Vitamin D: A Feel Good Hormone

Did you know that vitamin D is a hormone? It is an important part of many bodily processes, including thyroid functions. Deficiency directly affects how you feel and look.

Without enough vitamin D, thyroid hormones cannot work inside the cells of your body. My doctor told me that I had extremely low levels of T3 hormone, and after putting me on a strong vitamin d prescription, my levels went back to the normal range. It certainly resolved some of the fatigue and weight issues for me.

Some research indicates patients with hypothyroidism have a difficult time absorbing and processing vitamin D properly.

How can you determine your vitamin D levels? Ask your doctor for a blood test. It is extremely important for hypothyroid patients to know their status of this important  hormone. We tend to be deficient.

What are sources of vitamin D?
1. Sunlight: Exposure to sunlight stimulates your body to make it
2. Cod liver oil
3. Salmon
4. Eggs
